| Is there anything more grotesque than another web page about "HOW YOU TOO CAN BE RICH MAKING MONEY ON THE INTERNET!!!"? Such pages are truly exhausting, and frankly, almost all are patently deceptive...though, there are some people who do well and do it with some integrity. This page is a bit different...it's about affiliate programs over the past few years that I have ACTUALLY used to make some money. Sometimes a little, sometimes quite a bit. What you will NOT find here is me selling you an ebook or a course on getting rich. I'd recommend that you avoid such garbage, but if you're determined to spend money on it, you'll have to find someone else to take your money...generally, someone who's willing to lie a lot. OK...again, these are simple programs that I am using or have used, and that I feel comfortable in recommending. At least, based on my past experience. |
| 1. Google AdSense - I have made a good deal of money with this delightful program. It's incredibly easy to implement on your site. The ads are contextual, so they adjust based on the content of your site. Incredibly valuable for busy webmasters who don't want to have to think too hard about how to monetize their site.
|
| 2. Web Decals - I really like these things. I sold quite a few years back, when most people hadn't started online businesses yet. I had forgotten about them and just recently starting publicizing them again. Cool product. Very affordable, and can be used creatively for max effect. |
| 3. Adbrite - I have actually used AdBrite more as an advertiser than as an income source...and continue to do so. But I have also had a number of folks buy ads on my sites thru this program. |
| 4. Sheet Music Plus - It's rarely big money, but I have sold a lot of sheet music from my sites. And every once in awhile, there's a big whopper of an order. I had one single order come thru for $550, and even at a commission rate of less than 10%, that was pretty nice! |
| 5. Amazon Associates - Amazon has a pretty interesting affiliate program. I wish they paid more, and I wish they had better, more-easily-customized tools available...but, despite what many webmasters will tell you...on the right web site, this program can make some very decent money. |
| 6. Hoodia Diet Pills - Weight loss is big business. I saw the report about this product on 60 Minutes some years back and was quite intrigued. I've tried the product myself, and while I haven't made it a part of my daily regimen, I also experienced no negative side effects, which was nice. I have made a pretty fair amount of money with this program...the product isn't cheap, and you can earn a fairly healthy cut of the sales price in commission. |
| 7. Valueclick (formerly Fastclick) - If you've got a high-traffic site, this can be a nice extra source of income. Banners can be neatly tucked into your web design and can bring you a bit of money just for the eyeballs it bring the advertisers. It won't make you rich, but shouldn't be ignored, either. |
